U.K. engineers think they've come up with a way to make prosthetic limbs fit better--an adaptable socket. The folks at Bournemouth University say they've come up with a lower-limb prosthetic that can adjust to the limb stump as it swells and contracts, thanks to artificial intelligence. While the work is in its early stages, the hope is that the advance will eventually help the devices to fit more snugly and allow better mobility for amputees. More
