Swedish Dx player enters U.S. market
Euro Diagnostica, a Swedish player in the ever-growing diagnostics market, is making its way to North America, thanks to a new deal with a major distributor.
The American Laboratory Products Co. (also known as ALPCO Diagnostics) says it will distribute a number of Euro's assays throughout North America, including tests that identify autoimmune diseases as well as endocrine and tumor markers. Neither side is disclosing financial terms, but Euro appears to have made a strategically smart choice with ALPCO, which both imports and distributes immunoassay test kits and has a wide market reach.
Euro Diagnostica CEO Else Beth Trautner said in a statement that her company is counting on ALPCO to establish its products in North America. The company itself has been around since 1992, but an advance into the North American market represents a major move as the demand for diverse diagnostic options continues to accelerate. ALPCO launched in 1991 as a diagnostics importer and distributor, but also has focused more on "internal and collaborative product development and manufacturing."
